Bio

Powerspace first formed when they met at Ohio's Miami University back in 2005. Guitarist Tom Schleiter and former bassist Dan McMahon had previously discussed playing music together. Tom had met drummer Kevin Kane in his freshman year at Miami University where the two played in a local band together. The three began collaborating and then started on their search for a lead singer. They were excited for finally forming a band but their search for a lead singer was strenuous.

At first the band wasn't really taken seriously and still had problems finding their lead singer. It wasn't until Schleiter's mom suggested that his high school friend and fellow Miami University student, Alec Cyganowski, wanted to give a shot at singing. After Cyganowski sang over a demo they had been working on, they all decided that he was going to work. Finally they had their lead singer and Powerspace was complete.

They recorded their 5 song EP "Houston, We Have A Party" and were brought to the attention of major labels. In the end, Powerspace signed with the label that reflected their artistic goals, Fueled By Ramen. After being signed, they decided they wanted to focus on the band more than their studies and took a break from school. In December 2006 they began recording their album "The Kicks of Passion" which was released in July 2007.

In May of 2008, their bassist Dan McMahon decided to leave the band, Jake Serek filled in as their touring bassist. Max Perenchio joined the band in early February as a guitarist when Schleiter decided to take a break to finish his studies at Miami University. Max has recently joined band permanently and Tom rejoined after graduating. The band currently finished up a tour with fellow label-mates Cute Is What We Aim For, along with Ace Enders and Danger Radio. They plan to return to the studio to start recording their sophomore album. Our feet are shuffling waiting for the next album!
